    Laurie Dolphin

Laurie Dolphin is a visionary printmaker, award-winning book publisher, designer, and curator. She views her art as a vessel—one that reflects a lifelong exploration of interconnectivity, unified consciousness, and the ephemeral nature of time. Deeply meditative in both intention and aesthetic, her work evokes calm and presence, inviting viewers to engage with themes of stillness, awareness, and our innate bond with nature.

Printmaking remains at the core of Laurie's multidisciplinary practice. Her mastery of the craft allows for what she calls "quiet spaciousness"—a breath through which spiritual and emotional currents flow. She describes her process as "both mysterious and magical—every single piece is a unique surprise once it rolls off the press." Nature's changing forms intertwine with visual-spatial constructs of interconnectivity and the unpredictable alchemy of printmaking, where technique becomes a method to explore the unknown rather than control it.

  • Raised in a deeply artistic environment, Laurie began her creative journey at age four in a mother-daughter art class with her mother Rita, a painter and sculptor. At 19, she enrolled at Philadelphia College of Art, where a pivotal encounter with legendary book designer Paul Bacon shifted her trajectory. He became her mentor, guiding her into graphic book design and revealing her deep affinity for the textures, freedom, and spiritual depth of printmaking.

Laurie's Buddhist practice, cultivated through years of study with Tibetan master Gelek Rinpoche, profoundly influenced her work. This spiritual foundation permeates both her art and her publishing career, which has included collaborations with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, photographer Gelila Bekele, and actor-photographer Norman Reedus, whom she also represents as an art agent.

  • As a curator, she has produced photography exhibitions internationally in Paris, Barcelona, Arles, Copenhagen, New York City, Los Angeles, and Tokyo, and curated "A Celebration of Trees" featuring 77 artists at the Southampton Arts Center.

Now based in Shelter Island, Laurie has returned to full-time artmaking in Dolphin Studio, her custom-built studio, where she continues to create works that reflect her soulful inquiry into the mysterious interconnectedness of all things. Her artwork has been exhibited extensively throughout the United States and in Berlin.
